Dolichopodidae - Liancalus querulus

Dolichopodidae - Liancalus querulus
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, San Diego County, California, USA
May 6, 2008
Size: BL about 7.5 mm
We found this mystery fly dead in Borrego Palm Canyon. I have been trying to track it down by wing venation. I looked all through Cole, but cannot find any that seems to fit. The two closest are Micropezidae, which has really long legs like this specimen, but none of the wings illustrated in Micropezidae by Steyskal in McAlpine's Nearctic flies seem quite right. The other wing pattern I thought was somewhat similar was an Ephydridae, but the body and legs seemed wrong. Is it possible to get this mystery fly to a family?

Dolichopodidae.
I'm pretty confident this is a long-legged fly. The metallic body color alone would suggest that as a prime suspect.

Thanks, Eric, for your ID. Those long legs should have given it away! A Diptera expert has also given this ID privately. I'll remember the combo of long legs and metallic color, plus the distinctive antennae.
