Widow Skimmer - Libellula luctuosa - female

Widow Skimmer - Libellula luctuosa - Female
Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
July 15, 2005
Size: wingspan: ~6-7 cm
Shot in a friend's backyard. Looks like a type of skimmer, but my resources are limited here. Any ideas?

Widow Skimmer
Looks a lot like the female widow skimmers in the guide. These critters don't have to be garishly colored to be gorgeous, do they? Neat photo.

I agree
I think you're right, Jess. Both sexes have the brown wing band, while the male also has white banding.
