Chrysomelidae

Chrysomelidae
Kiefer, Creek County, Oklahoma, USA

much like Chilocorinae
Dunno about that huge shiny head, but the rest of it's a good match for subfamily Chilocorinae. Shape, color, spines, even the size and shape of the legs match. I wish I could count the spines on each thoracic segment - every time I heighten the contrast or sharpen the edges in Photoshop I come up with different numbers.

I don't know what other beetle larvae are spiky like this; chrysomelids seem to be lumpier, with smooth tubercles, not long sharp senti.

There is no certainty about this ID.

Beetle larva.
Either a lady beetle larva (genus Chilocorus are spiny like this), or a leaf beetle larva (family Chrysomelidae). Not enough detail for 'me' to conclude, but maybe someone else can.
