Two-tone Moth Fly - Telmatoscopus

Two-tone Moth Fly - Telmatoscopus
Rancocas, Rancocas Nature Center NJAS, Burlington County, New Jersey, USA
May 2, 2008
Found a bunch of these in a hollow tree. The dead standing trunk was filled with a pool of algae/fungus and many of these.

Moved
Moved from Moth Flies and Sand Flies. due to email from Gregory Curler "Excellent photo of an interesting fly. Unfortunately, the best I can do from this view is give you a genus. The antennae, wings, eyes, posture and habitat tell me that it belongs to the genus Telmatoscopus, but I wouldn't know the species without looking at a cleared male specimen under the microscope.
The coloration is unlike most Telmatoscopus species that I've seen, but a lot of psychodids that I identify to species have been preserved in alcohol, so I'm not familiar with "in life coloration" of all species."
