Orb weaving spider - Eriophora

Orb weaving spider - Eriophora
Houston, Harris County, Texas, USA
July 25, 2005
Size: 1 inch, approx
We walked out the front door and found our way blocked by a web that stretched across the 5 ft space at the front of our entryway. The spider was hanging downward in the center and was eating what we believe was a mosquito. We have Mediterranean geckos that hang around that area, and one of them seemed to have his eye on the spider, but has no way to get to it, as yet. I'm sure it's some sort of an orb weaver, but would like a specific id, if possible.
