Here I can see the facial fovea. Interesting metallic color, from bluish on parts of the abdomen, to greenish on the thorax.
Its in a Mirabilis flower.

a species close to cerasifolii but found in drier areas and often greener (less blue)

I thought of cerasifolii which you identified for me from Eaton Canyon, & Mill Creek Summit, but there are so many spp. & I just don't know enough.

 
there are only two blue/green Melandrena
cerasifolii and impolita (see LaBerge, 1987)

I see that cerasifolii is much bluer, but also read (Discover Life) that female impolita are difficult to separate from cerasifolii. So I should probably wait until I can get a good specimen ID, or at least more detailed photos?
