ID for a Bee on a Pear Tree - Andrena - male

ID for a Bee on a Pear Tree - Andrena - Male
Summerville, Dorchester County, South Carolina, USA
March 14, 2009
Size: ~12mm w/o ant. or wing.
I was photographing the fresh blossoms on a pear tree when I chanced across this specimen. It was a little chilly, (just under 60F) and it appeared to be having difficulty moving around, giving me plenty of opportunity to photograph. I went back later and photographed a 6" scale on the same blossom, then overlaid on one of the images, so I'm more confident than usual about the size. Andrena male
probably subgenus Melandrena

At that locality and date I would expect to find Andrena (Melandrena) barbara Bouseman and LaBerge, 1979, but other species are possible

Thanks Dr. Ascher
I appreciate the ID. Definitely looks more like those than where I was headed before. I'll be moving it (and editing...) shortly.
