Beetle - Dermestes lardarius

Beetle - Dermestes lardarius
Bloomfield, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Ontario, Canada
March 17, 2009
Size: 6mm approx.
Found in the house on this date but I also have a picture of this same beetle from April 29/06 from a location 70 km NE of here outside so figure it must be a spring species. Looks distinctive but I have had no luck identifying it. Any help appreciated - Thanks

Dermestes ladarius
More a permanent house guest than a spring visitor I'm afraid. You may want to find what they are eating and get rid of it. Many animal products can be the source.

Thank You
Thank You Margarethe, will have to check around.
