Longhorn Beetle - Monochamus scutellatus - Female

Size: ~20mm
As we ate lunch at Indian Head Rock, atop Mt Emily, this "monstrous" beetle flew in and landed on one of the cables supporting the overlook. We know that it's a cerambycid but not much else.

Pine Sawyer.
Nice shots of a female "Oregon fir sawyer," Monochamus scutellatus. It used to be its own species, M. oregonensis, but has now been synonymized with M. scutellatus.
