Fly ? - Liriomyza septentrionalis

Fly ? - Liriomyza septentrionalis
Salt Lake City (N40°46.727'W111°52.629'ele4609'), Salt Lake County, Utah, USA
June 23, 2008
Guessing Chloropidae, any suggestions appreciated.

Moved
Moved from Liriomyza.

Moved
Moved from Leaf Miner Flies.

ID
Definitely Liriomyza, and the dark legs and pleuron combined with the laterally yellow abdomen make me think L. septentrionalis, which is a Poaceae feeder that is extremely abundant in the western United States up to BC.

Check for mines
If you see mines in nearby leaves, please post.

Only leaf
mines in my files are moth generated, I'll keep a look-out for other forms.

Tiebreaker
Moved from Flies.

I see an M-Cu crossvein which rules out Chloropidae according to the key in Arnett. Plus the yellow and black pattern is a better match.

or it might be Agromyzidae!
