Augochlorella species? - Augochlorella pomoniella - Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, San Diego County, California, USA March 6, 2006 Size: BL 7-8 mm
We found this female laden with heavy pollen sacs inside an Apricot Mallow Flower in Hoberg Canyon. It has three submarginal cells. We think this is an Augochlorella. Krombein et al only gives one species in California, A. pomoniella. Could this possibly be it?
The combo of the brilliant green bee on the apricot red flower and the bright yellow pollen is almost blinding.
