Blue Beetle - Meloe angusticollis - Male

Size: Body length 20mm
I found this beetle on my porch steps soaking in the afternoon sun. My home is in a rural area with marsh and bush nearby. Recently we had a few stove cords of firewood delivered from a local supplier which makes me think that it may have arrived in the wood and was awakened by a warm day.

I've lived here 34 years and do not recall ever seeing a Meloe Angusticollis before.

Male.
The "kinked" antennae indicate this is a male. The detail in your images that shows the punctation of the pronotum (top of thorax) will probably confirm "V"'s ID. Keep up the great work!
