I propose that this is an Arrow-shaped Micrathena spider. Can anyone confirm and perhaps provide the species?

M. sagittata
Yes, that is an arrowshaped Micrathena. (Micrathena sagittata)

unusual spider
I was scouring the internet trying to ID this fantastic spider I found on my kitchen counter in CT. Now I know the name(Micrathena sagittata). Is it rare? Where does it hang out when not on my counter so I can return it to a congenial place? Thanks

A Fairly Common Spider
This is a fairly common spider. Typically I have found them in gardens and on the edge of wooded areas. She should be hanging out on her web, rather than your counter... :) She's a docile creature, and if you put her outside, she'll find a new home...
