Red Widow - Latrodectus bishopi - female

Red Widow - Latrodectus bishopi - Female
Hobe Sound, Martin County, Florida, USA
July 29, 2005
Size: Adult
Males and females often have only one half of the hourglass marking. Some specimens have a split hourglass, but I have yet to see a connected hourglass.
This was the best shot I could get because the wind picked up as rain was moving in.
I have encourted this sp. in Marion, Martin, and Palm Beach Counties. It is only found in FL in xeric habitats.
