Agapostemon melliventris with dark-banded abdomen - Agapostemon melliventris - Female
Highway 78 near Ocotillo Wells, Imperial County, California, USA
March 30, 2006
Size: BL about 7.5 mm
We saw this Agapostemon bee on Desert Sunflower (Geraea canescens) roadside along Highway 78, just east of Ocotillo Wells into Imperial Co.

It does have pollen sac, better seen in the second image. This must be an Agapostemon where the abdomen has hair bands as does the male.
