Bee house, the next generation - Osmia cornifrons - male

Bee house, the next generation - Osmia cornifrons - Male
Willow Grove, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA
March 31, 2009
Yesterday it was a warm and sunny day; they were eagerly coming out. Last year I though that I only had Osmia cornifrons at my bee houses but I may have been wrong. This newly emerged one doesn't seem to have horns.
Here is the video. You can see them breaking the wall, hesitating, stepping outside, doing some stretching exercises and finally taking off. I hope that I have more chances to video this another day; today it is cold and rainy.
This is a view of their house

Moved
Moved from Mason Bees.

oh, gosh, that's kitten-level cuteness
When I was a little kid I would try to pet bumblebees because they looked so soft. I never got stung, to the astonishment of the adults around me - I guess I had a light touch, and only tried it when the bees were deep inside flowers concentrating on nectar and pollen.

Easter bee-bunny
Wait until you see my Easter card.
I pet bumblebees too. At most they stick a leg out, like saying: stop that.

I love it!
That's great. And adorable. I may need a new desktop background...

I LOVE this shot!
Very endearing. I think this is the first time I've thought of a bee as 'cute.'

My son thinks that I am crazy
Because I say that they are as cute as bunnies : )
