Big Easy - Schistocerca nitens

This large, pretty grasshopper ambled out onto a path and posed patiently for me. As I was leaving, two hikers came up and were also able to study this very cooperative subject.

These almost orange
Schistocerca nitens are quite striking.

...and I didn't see the connection. Guess I'm too wrapped up in color differences to see the similarities.
