Species?
This is probably Hoplisoides costalis, no doubt named for the darkened costal margin of the front wing.

This is a new wasp for me.
I think they are common here. The day I took these photos there were others a few feet away who were also digging in the sand. I had marked all of the spots with little sticks but they quickly disappeared. If I see them this year I'll have to devise something else.
