Darkling Beetle - Neatus tenebroides

Darkling Beetle - Neatus tenebroides
Ackworth, Warren County, Iowa, USA
April 4, 2009
Size: 1 cm
Discovered under bark of firewood stored in woodshed. On this cool morning, it was inactive with its antennae and legs tucked away out of sight when I first found it, but it stirred to life after a few minutes of photography and exerted them in this view. The edge of my thumbnail provides some scale.

Darkling beetle.
This is a tenebrionid, but not sure which genus. Note the "beaded" antennae, which helps separate tenebs from carabids.

Neatus tenebroides, i suppose
