Water strider - Limnoporus canaliculatus

Water strider - Limnoporus canaliculatus
Chantilly, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
April 4, 2009
Size: ~ 10 mm
My best guess is Limnoporus. Can I get a species ID?

Genus is correct
Given that it's on the smaller side (7.5-11 mm), it probably is L. canaliculatus, L. dissortis is somewhat larger (11.5-15 mm). Both species occur in the east.

Thanks, Tim!
Since you mentioned the size was important in the comment on my previous photo, I hopped along with this guy and measured with a ruler. LOL

:-)
Hope there were no passers-by watching you do that! :-]
