Fly - Gonia

Fly - Gonia
rural, Dallas County, Iowa, USA
April 4, 2009
Size: around 10 mm
This and a number of other flies (several species) were on the cut stump of a sappling. I could not detect any sap, but there may have been some. It was extremely windy and all of the flies seemed to be hunkered down and bothered by the wind. Gonia?
