E. californicalis
According to Moths of Western North America (Powell & Opler), the inner transverse gold line is straight in E. ocelleus, but curved in E. californicalis. That would make this one E. californicalis.
However, their listed range does not include Alabama.

comparing Euchromius californicalis and ocelleus
Greetings Devin,
It is my understanding that in
Euchromius californicalis
the white area between the black dots and the thin line (towards the base) is wide and in
E. ocelleus
it is narrow as in Roberts photo.
Here is a nice
photo
of
E. californicalis
to compare.
Euchromius californicalis
occurs in South Dakota, California, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Colorado.
This is based on the review and keys by Hahn Capps (1966)
Please note that the last time I looked there were some misplaced photos in Bug Guide.
Thanks
Euchromius californicalis

Zimlich Zone
Thanks, Devin
Stranger things have happened in the Zimlich Zone, like
planthopper from Panamanian Rain Forest
. About distributions, Hemberger told me, "If it has wings, all bets are off."
