BG2152 E1309 - Monochamus carolinensis - female

BG2152 E1309 - Monochamus carolinensis - Female
Gloster, Gloster Arboretum, Amite County, Mississippi, USA
June 15, 2008
Size: body length 21.2 mm.
This appears to be a Longhorned Beetle. Based on the length of the antennae it is a female. It is a good match for this specimen which has been identified as Monochamus, either M. carolinensis or M. titillator. To separate these: In M. titillator the apical elytral margin meets the sutural tooth at right angle, while in M. carolinensis the angle is more obtuse. To my untrained eye, based on our rather poor image (4 of 4) of this feature, I favor M. carolinensis.
Proper placement would be appreciated.
