Aulacid wasp - Pristaulacus fasciatus - female

Aulacid wasp - Pristaulacus fasciatus - Female
Overland Park, Johnson County, Kansas, USA
August 12, 2008
Unknown ichneumon female. Any ideas?

Cool! Not an ichneumon.
This is a wasp in the family Aulacidae, genus Pristaulacus. One of the best images I've seen of this species. Will move to guide page shortly. Great find, they are not commonly seen.

excellent, thank you
Hopefully this pic will help the future finders of the species. I got some shots of it depositing in the tree too.
