Not A Crab Spider
This is an Orb Weaver of some sort. Although, I'm not sure which one.

You are right! Thanks. I have just learned that this is Araneus detrimentosus as illustrated on page 143 of Howell and Jenkins, Spiders of the Eastern US. Dr Howell was kind enough to point this out to me.
