Happy bespectacled stink bug? - Cosmopepla uhleri
san mateo, san mateo County, California, USA
December 31, 1969
Size: 8mm
A favorite, among the kids I give slide shows to. I should know the proper name.

Cosmopepla uhleri?
I am not an expert of any kind, but the pattern seems to match pretty perfectly:

I can see why the kids would like this one! (*grin*)

name's Cosmopepla uhleri

Too bad that...
...BugGuide doesn't include seconds in the time stamp. We will have to declare this one a tie! (LOL)

what's more important...
...i will be skipping many submissions forthwith and let you gorge on them while i'll be enjoying my cigar and, say, Schumann's Waldszenen (proven conducive to productive BG work), 'cuz your calls are good and i'd rather focus on more tedious stuff, like browsing thru muscoids for the umptieth time looking for a serendipity

Limitations...
Realistically, if it doesn't have a bold pattern and isn't from California, I'm really pretty limited in my ability to make an ID. So, don't let yourself get too comfortable! Many people would instantly be missing your astute skills.

BTW, I had to Google the unfamiliar musical reference, but having now familiarized myself, it does indeed seem like a very nice piece to accompany some well spent time insect sleuthing.
