A garden surprise - beetle ID, please - Lytta aenea - Female
Chamblee, DeKalb County, Georgia, USA
April 18, 2009
Size: 3/4 inch
Observed this beauty crawling across freshly tilled and soil fortified with commercial top soil. I'm suspecting female because of the swollen abdomen.

Guess I won't have to add image of tail. It is indeed a simple and beautiful animal.
