Buckeye or tropical buckeye? - Junonia evarete

Buckeye or tropical buckeye? - Junonia evarete
Sabino Canyon Recreation Area, Pima County, Arizona, USA
April 17, 2009
I give up. I'm wondering how many species of Junonia there really are, too. Imaged this one as it flitted around a blooming acacia along the creek in mid-morning. Shot with Canon SX10 IS on "auto" using the zoom, then cropping the resulting image. Still not nearly as sharp an image as I'd like.

Moved
Moved from Tropical Buckeye.

I have similar problems
The "ought-to-focus" has decided the acacia is much more interesting than the butterfly. Do you hold the button half-in to check the focus before shooting?

By the way, it's probably not necessary to include information like 'Shot with Canon SX10 IS on "auto" using the zoom, then cropping the resulting image.' on every image.

True....
Yes, I do hold the shutter down half-way until the critter poses appropriately:-) Yeah, I got in the habit of putting the camera information on when I knew I would be changing over from the "Elph...."
