Roadside Skipper - Amblyscirtes vialis

Roadside Skipper - Amblyscirtes vialis
Garland, Collin County, Texas, USA
April 19, 2009
Identifying as Northern Cloudywing (instead of Southern) because of the fewer spots on the wings. Would appreciate confirmation. The checkered fringe is more distinct than the other images I have seen for either cloudywing species.

Moved

Looks like one of the
roadside skippers (Amblyscirtes) to me

Roadside Skipper
Yes, a much better match. Thank you! I have moved the image. The three Roadside Skippers reported in Collin County, TX are A. belli, A. eos, and A. vialis. Of these, the Common Roadside Skipper (A. vialis) seems the mostly likely match, but not certain.
