Phormia regina - female

Phormia regina - Female
Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
April 18, 2009
I assume Calliphoridae, is genus possible?
I am posting these images from the Bugguide mini gathering and hope that others will post theirs so we can keep the best. Judging by some of the cameras there that day it should be easy to knock this down. Come on!
Same individual

8 mm long
Cool!

Phormia regina
Terry Whitworth det.

[so don't listen to me anymore pls when it comes to flies, Max. =v=]

Moved from Calyptratae.

A good one
We don't have many of these in the guide. So, it seems that it is worth it taking pictures of these metallic flies; they can be IDed to species after all.
It even seems to have some pollen clinging to it. That interests me.

Image
moved for now

Good image
Your photo is better than mine. No point submitting mine.

i suspect Eudasyphora cyanicolor
metallic muscid shown in Marshall 2006, p. 476:9

Season
book claims it would be a late season flier, too early?
It wandered around my arm "vacuuming" me with a retractable "elephant trunk" for several minutes (tickled). The others should have more photos, I just got this one when everyone else was done.
