Grasshopper - Trimerotropis pallidipennis - male

Grasshopper - Trimerotropis pallidipennis - Male
Española, Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, USA
April 19, 2009
Size: 40 mm?
Just curious. It looks a lot like the many pictures here of Trimerotropis, but what do I know?

Enlarged views available if they would help.

Trimerotropis pallidipennis male
You figured out the genus. There are a few other species in the EspaƱola area that look similar, but this is the best fit, and the only one that is going to be found as an adult so early as April in this area (sometimes the nymphs and adults survive the winter in this species).

Thanks.
Now if there were only a way to convince them they should eat certain plants and spare others.
