Desert Harvestman - Eurybunus

Desert Harvestman - Eurybunus
Fall Canyon, Death Valley National Park, Inyo County, California, USA
April 10, 2009
This interesting looking arachnid was slowly wandering around the sparsely vegetated limestone walls and washes in canyons of the Grapevine Mountains of Death Valley. It was constantly on the move, making it a challenge to get good field photos. I saw a number of them on a recent trip, and also on a previous trip to the same canyon area a few years ago.

It looks similar to images posted on BugGuide under the genus Eurybunus, e.g. this one from the Phoenix area , and these two from Anza-Borrego .
