horned reduviid; Zelus sp? - Repipta taurus

horned reduviid; Zelus sp? - Repipta taurus
Newberry, Alachua County, Florida, USA
I don't have the label with me, but this was caught relatively recently. I don't ever remember seeing a reduviid with head horns, although now that I've said that, there are probably a hundred spp that look this way.

Aptly named...
Those prominent horns play a part in the species name; this is Repipta taurus which could be called roughly the bull assassin.

And actually yes, there are plenty of assassins with spines at the antennal bases though that feature is more common in the tropical genera.
