Colorful Widow - Latrodectus - female

Colorful Widow - Latrodectus - Female
Loomis, Placer County, California, USA
April 22, 2009
I'm used to seeing the standard black and red coloration on the widows near my house, so the variation in color in this specimen really impressed me. Not shown (because she got shy when I pulled out my camera) are the yellow-gold "wing" marks on the dorsal side of her abdomen. Is she this colorful because she's immature? Or is it just normal color variation? Anyone have a guess as to if she's a L. mactans or a different species?
