Non-pest wood cockroach.
All the domestic pest roaches came from elsewhere, mostly tropical Africa....This is a male Pennsylvania Wood Cockroach, Parcoblatta pensylvanica. They often fly to lights at night. Totally harmless, valuable decomposer of organic matter. Never an indoor resident.

Thanks, Eric!
I will adopt a more gentle removal protocol for this species if it shows up inside my house in the future!
