Frenchman's Forest Natural Area
. These are also known as "Milkweed Assassin Bugs", because they mimic the Milkweed Bug.

Very cool aposematic colors!
Incidentally, what looks like this species is illustrated on page 61 of Deyrup's, Florida's Fabulous Insects (World Publications, 2000). Deyrup does not give scientific names in that book, unfortunately.

You are right, no scientific names (which is a bummer). These Assassins are pretty common down where I was. I saw them in various stages of growth on a variety of pants while on my different excursions.
