poss. Aedes sp.
combination of pointed abdomen, proboscis and body held out of line with one another at an angle and short maxillary palps suggest Aedes to me. I believe Aedes spp. usually have clear wings though. Hard to tell if they just look smoky because of the camera angle.

no,
just for clarification there is no uch thing as clear wings on a mosquito. all mosquitos have scales on their wings. if you mean pale scales on the wings then you are also mistaken. it is no more random for species of Aedes to have plae scales on their wings than an anopheles.

this would be an ochlerotatus since we have that as a complete genus on bugguide. the three aedes in new england are Ae. cinerus, Ae. vexans, and Ae. albopictus (not yet established here)
