Brachinus
almost always requires scoping for accurate species identification. This is just one in a bunch of your new (2009) very nicely photographed carabids that lack species identification. Tom, I'll be happy to receive your mailed specimens that fall into this category whenever you want. New idea for better tracking: if possible please pencil the corresponding BugGuide image numbers onto the specimen packets. This Brachinus specimen for example is #271361. Thanks, Peter

Specimens
I saved this one and a few of the others. The tracking number is a good idea. It'll make things a lot easier for you to find them, so I'll do it that way.

Brachinus cyanipennis
based on my microscopic examination of this specimen. The diagnostic extra few long erect setae on elytra in addition to uniform dense pubescence cannot be seen in photo. Tracking numbers really help. Thanks Tom.
