Regius is correct; a female.

I am reasonably sure this is a Phidippus regius, but I'm anxious to see if Jay Barnes or Jeff Hollenbeck agrees. Yes, they are large and colorful! I still remember the first one I ever saw, in 1978 near Walt Disney World in Orlando:-)
