This guy dosent look like he belongs here - Calosoma scrutator
Cypress (just outside of Houston), Harris County, Texas, USA
Size: 1.5 inches
Found this guy dead just like he is in a parking lot. The area is not as populated as it could be. There are a lot of pastures in the area. I have had him for a while in a ziploc just because he is too cool to throw away. If anyone can figure out what he is it would be nice to know. I cant find anything online about him. Thanks

Calosoma scrutator
well represented at BG.

Wow! The blue and green colors are fantastic!
^^

Calosoma sp., Fiery searcher maybe
a beauty. Let him dry out of the plastic bag. (he'll stink otherwise)

Calosoma spp.
Calosoma spp. I used to see these often in The San marcos area. Nice find.

you mean 'Calosoma sp.'
'spp.' is plural, i.e. means several species and thus can't be applied to a single specimen or image

Thank you
Thank you for correcting my error. I should have worded it "one of the Calosoma spp."
I should have written San Marcos instead of "San marcos".

alternatively,
the phrase "one of the Calosoma spp." might be replaced with the single word "Calosoma" to convey the exact same meaning

Thank you
I appreciate you taking the time to explain.
