the name Siederia was originally established by Duponchel in 1842 to denote a subgenus of Solenobia; it was raised to the level of genus by Meier in 1957
Siederia walshella, originally placed in Solenobia (and placed in Taleporia by some sources), was placed in Siederia by Peter Hättenschwiler (see notes on this page by Jean-François Landry)
