FuzzyPiller - Orgyia leucostigma

FuzzyPiller - Orgyia leucostigma
Belk, Fayette County, Alabama, USA
May 11, 2009
Size: About 1/2 inch
I found this guy above my head in the door way of my husbands work shop. It had nice white hairs coming off the body along with 3 groups of some white stuff on the upper part of the body behind the head, It had a red head and black fuzzy antennae. Looking at the side shot of the caterpillar which I turned the picture over for better viewing, it appears that it has red feet as well. The side view of the caterpillar you see mostly his rear end. What kind of caterpillar have I found and what will it turn into??
