Red-lined Carrion Beetle - Necrodes surinamensis - female

Red-lined Carrion Beetle - Necrodes surinamensis - Female
Hwy 55 and Sedwick, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
August 1, 2005
Size: 21 mm
Detail of antennae, characteristic of the family, I believe. Right foretarsus also visible. Ratcliffe states: "Foretarsi of males with segments 1-4 usually expanded, as wide as long; in females, segments a little longer than wide" (1). This must be a female, then.
