Bathroom Sink Spider - Schizocosa

Bathroom Sink Spider - Schizocosa
Madison County, Illinois, USA
May 14, 2009
I saw this in our bathroom sink this morning. I ended up trapping it in a cup and letting it go outside, but I'm just curious as to what it is. I was thinking a wolf spider - but that's probably not right.

We would say you were correct
It certainly looks like a wolf spider with those eyes set back on the head. Thank you for trapping and releasing it. They are harmless to us yet great predators in the backyard.

Thanks!
I also was looking further, and found this: http://www.usq.edu.au/spider/find/spiders/447.htm which looks VERY, VERY similar to what I had.

Correct
I'd concur that it is indeed a wolf spider. I have tons of these around my home. Some get quite large and scare the beejezus out of me when I'm gardening but quite nice to have around.
