Insect
Among the arthropods, only insects have wings. As for ID, it's no doubt a Crane Fly,
Order Diptera Infraorder Tipulimorpha
. Best to wait to see if our fly experts can take it any further.

I was just so thrown by it, I jumped all the way back to arthropod!! :)
Six legs, wings, d'oh!
Head doesn't look right for a Crane Fly. I'll wait for Chen on that one though. Body looks midge-ish, but again, the head doesn't look right.

Hmmm... not bad
Now I wish I'd gotten that dorsal shot even more!! I'll have to do some more traipsing through the woods behind my house over the next few weeks. I have a feeling there are a few more surprises to be found.
