Danosoma brevicorne

Danosoma brevicorne
Ingalls Creek, Chelan County, Washington, USA
May 17, 2009
Size: 18mm
Crash landed against my head while in flight (the beetle, not my head). Thanks for any help with ID, I looked at all 60 pages of buprestids but didnt find one close enough to believe. Is there any way to do complex searches of the Guide? Like "buprestid + washington" ?

click beetle, rather
a very nice series -- thanks!

That's curious that this little guy didn't click
Did this guy quiver his antennae a lot as well? If so, you've got yourself a false click beetle, family Eucnemidae! Based on the picture though, it sure looks like a legitimate clicky.

Fast Response!
thanks, my first impulse WAS click, based on thorax to abdomen topography. But it never clicked, even when upside down. So I focused incorrectly wood borer. thanks again for the amazingly quick response.
