Carabus granulatus
is confirmed based on my microscopic examination of this specimen (already labeled det Y. Bousquet) with same collection data. You did not mount a label with the BugGuide photo number, but I'll assume the one I have is indeed the photo-voucher. I'll add the number to make it official. Thanks Tom.

Carabus maeander vs granulatus - not a trivial distinction.
The details I really want to see for resolving identity are either hidden or not clearly visible here. C. maeander known in AB but C. granulatus known closest in adjacent BC and WA according to Bousquet & Larochelle (1993). If C. granulatus, could be a new state record but not unexpected. You will need to pass this specimen through the key by Lindroth (1961) which gives all the necessary details.

thanks Peter
From the info here, there is only 1 record of C. granulatus so far in AB (Edmonton) whereas C. maeander here is more widespread in the province. There are a few photos of specimens collected from last spring that were posted earlier in the guide that were IDed as C. granulatus. From the descriptions and images, I'm leaning towards C. maeander but I think leaving it at genus level will be safe for now. Will try find the publication at the school library.

A "published" state record for AB?
If true for C. granulatus, please cite source/collection details/determiner which would be important for forthcoming catalogue revision of North American Carabidae.
