Butterfly 2 - Pieris rapae
Cedar Hill, Dallas County, Texas, USA
May 20, 2009
Taken at a local nursery. I was surprised at how much yellow was on this one when it finally landed--it looked white in flight.

Cabbage White
Butterfy 2 and Butterfly 3 are both Pieris rapae.

Do you see them here often?
It may just be that I've never caught one with the camera before, although I've seen them in the panhandle. I just didn't think they were this far south. I'm so pleased to have you join in on BugGuide--it's my good fortune!

Cabbage White - Abundance Status
