Preying on a large Sphinx moth, the Hummingbird Clearwing, Hemaris thysbe. This is the same individual that took a Digger Wasp, Scolia dubia, on September 2--see linked image below.

This spider did very well on this patch of Abelia--eventually I found it guarding a large egg case.
