Predation inside leaf fold

Predation inside leaf fold
Honey Island Swamp, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, USA
May 22, 2009
Size: ~12mm each
I opened this leaf shelter and this beetle larva (I assume) was draining the juices from this caterpillar. It's a dangerous world out there! You can see the bruise behind the caterpillar's head where the beetle was feeding.

Nice "behavior" image, Mark -
but I'm not sure where to place it. Can you crop out your finger to show the two immatures better? Do you want to try to get a family ID on the caterpillar or ? beetle larva?
